# DHL

> Track DHL shipments of every service in chat

Connect a DHL Developer Portal API key so customers can track DHL shipments in chat. BubblaV adds one chatbot tool; nothing is installed on your site through DHL.

## Why Connect DHL?

> **Live Tracking**
>
> Track a shipment by its tracking number: status, location, estimated delivery, recent events, and a link to DHL's tracking page.

> **All DHL Services**
>
> Works for DHL Express, Parcel (Germany, Netherlands, Poland, UK), eCommerce, Freight, and Global Forwarding.

> **Local Languages**
>
> Status texts come in the customer's language when DHL has them.

## Prerequisites

* A BubblaV website with edit access
* A DHL Developer Portal account with an app that includes the **Shipment Tracking - Unified** API

## Setup Steps

**1. Get an API key**

Create an app at [developer.dhl.com](https://developer.dhl.com), add the **Shipment Tracking - Unified** API, and wait for DHL to approve the app. Then copy the app's **Consumer Key**.

**2. Connect DHL**

Open that website's **Dashboard** → **Integrations** → **DHL**, click **Connect**, and paste the key into **DHL API Key**.

**3. BubblaV adds the tool**

BubblaV validates the key with a live API call and adds the DHL tracking tool to your chatbot.

**4. Test**

Ask the chatbot about a real DHL tracking number to check the answer.

## Available Tools After Connection

| Tool | Parameters and Behavior | Example Query |
| - | - | - |
| `dhl_track_shipment` | Required `tracking_id` (6–40 letters/digits). Optional `language` (2-letter code) and `recipient_postal_code`. Returns status, location, estimated delivery, the last 5 events, and a tracking link. | "Where is my DHL shipment 00340434292135100186?" with a real number |

## Test Your Integration

Try this query in your storefront chat:

* "Where is my DHL shipment 00340434292135100186?" — replace the number with a real DHL tracking number from a recent shipment.

## Troubleshooting

> **DHL rejected the API key on connect**
>
> Check that you pasted the **Consumer Key** of an app that includes the **Shipment Tracking - Unified** API. A new app needs DHL approval before the key works, so try again after approval. The shared `demo-key` is not accepted because it returns only mock data.

> **Shipment not found**
>
> A newly created shipment can take time before it appears, so the number may be too new. Otherwise the number may carry a typo, or it may not be a DHL tracking number.

> **Rate limit reached**
>
> DHL's default limit is 250 calls per day and 1 call per 5 seconds. To raise it, click **Request Upgrade** on your app in **My Apps** at developer.dhl.com.

> **Replace the key**
>
> On the DHL integration card, click **Disconnect**, then click **Connect** and paste the new key.

> **Tool is missing after connecting**
>
> If BubblaV shows **Connected, but the chatbot tools were not added**, or the tool is missing, open the integration's **Configure** page and click **Sync Tools**. Then check that the DHL tool is enabled.

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Security**: Your API key is stored encrypted, and the tool only reads data. A visitor only needs a tracking number — the same as DHL's own public tracking page. Receiver names, addresses, and postal codes are never shown in the chat.
